Backerkit Smoke Test Launched
– Thu, Oct 01, 2020 at 07:40:06 AM
Hello, dear Wondrous backers!
I'm happy to announce that the so-called "smoke test" for the Backerkit pledge manager is live.
Backerkit Smoke Test
A randomly chosen 5% of our backers will get their survey email, to test if we have configured everything correctly. On a project like this with lots of add-ons and settings, its easy to overlook something.
If no major issues arise, we will start sending the rest of the surveys soon.
Deadline
You have plenty of time to fill out your survey. While we know most of you do it right away, please rest assured that you can make changes until a couple of months before we start shipping (which is still a long time from now). The reason we start the surveys early is to make sure we can see what backlog products are being ordered alongside pledge items, so we can make sure we have plenty of time to re-print books and card decks where needed.
Development Updates
In the meantime, our writing and design team is picking up speed and things have started moving. It's always exciting to really get started on something, that was just a "concept" until recently. Things are getting serious now and we are staring down the many months of hard work to make this book our next gem!
We will keep you posted every step of the way, so keep an eye out for news again soon.
best wishes!

Backerkit Setup in Progress

Hello, dear wondrous backers,
I hope everyone is doing fine.I just wanted to give you a short update and let you know that we're in the process of setting up the Backerkit pledge manager.
For a project this scope, there's a lot of settings to configure and check so we expect to need 1 or 2 more weeks. Once it is ready, we will do a so-called "smoke test" where a small portion of the backers will be sent their surveys to test. If no major issues pop up, we will then start surveying everyone.
We also got a few questions about whether it's possible to deliver digital items of existing products sooner than the planned Wondrous Expeditions Forests delivery dates, and we are looking into this. It is a more technical and practical question, so we are figuring out if there's a clean way of doing it.
Keep you posted and talk again soon!

WE FUNDED - And so it begins...

Hello, dear Wondrous Backers!
Our highest-funded Kickstarter to date!
I don't think you have missed this news, but WE FUNDED. And oh boy, did we smash our targets, thanks to your generous pledges. I will admit that with every new product and Kickstarter I am always nervous, cause what if you don't like the topic, the product idea? But the nerves were not needed it seems, as the campaign result is our highest funding total to date! A record!
So thank you all again. YOU ROCK!
Deep breath before the plunge
I took a couple of days off to catch my breath after Thursday's countdown live stream. Months of work go into leading up to a campaign like this, and 6-12 months work lies ahead to get things thing into your hands, so I've learned that sometimes its good to take a breather when you can. But not for too long, we are now taking the plunge and diving straight into writing the first book: WEX Forests!
While some preliminary design and writing was already done a few months ago, in order to get a feel for the project and to look ahead at potential future editions, the real work starts now. I am excited to let you know that we've assembled a rockstar team of writers, with returning names from Remarkable Shops: JVC Parry, Alex Clippinger, and the illustrious Elf Vesala. There are even rumors of a potential cameo by Greg Rycerz, who was the lead writer of Remarkable Inns, the product that put Loresmyth on the map and changed things forever. I am so chuffed that Greg may play (at least a small) part in the creation of this book, we will see!
Exploring Structures
When writing a book, the writers need to know "what" to write. And for me and my team to be able to tell them what that is, we need to have planned to book content pretty thoroughly. I already had an outliner done early on, but we are now in the process of fleshing that out in much more detail and figuring out what would make the best flow and structure for a book like this. The handwritten notes above give a good impression of how that works for me, where I try to capture my thoughts as quickly and fluently as possible, before transcribing them to a digital format for the team. We expect to need a couple of weeks more for this really important foundation work, and by that time all writers will be firing on all cylinders!

Our Last 24 Hours + The Red Opera!
– Thu, Sep 10, 2020 at 02:08:41 AM
Hello dear wondrous backers!
We have less than 24 hours before this roller coaster of a campaign ends! We want to give our heartfelt thank-you to all of the nearly 3000 backers who have made this campaign such a huge success, and give one last reminder for anyone who hasn't pledged yet!
We also wanted to shine the spotlight on one of the coolest Kickstarter projects we've seen in a while--The Red Opera.
A bloody, epic fusion of music and gameplay, The Red Opera is a dark new 5e campaign adapted from the titular album & stage show by the heavy metal band DiAmorte! The project plans to build an extensive, player-driven campaign designed for 5th edition D&D centered upon the oft-overlooked and much-misunderstood class--the Warlock.
But you don't have to be a Warlock to play--all characters are welcome in the Shadelands, the brand-new setting for the campaign. And whether your party is a group of adventurers, noblemen, or thieves, all of them can strike a temporary bargain with one of its many Patrons.
Coolest of all, The Red Opera is sponsored by the Heavy Metal Hall of Fame and has partnered with the Budapest Symphonic Scoring Orchestra to create an amazing soundtrack for each chapter of the campaign!
The project has already been 600% funded, but there's still 22 days to go! If this sounds like your jam, check out the campaign here!
